Phone Cord Tidy!

…a Phone Cord Tidy!

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re all well, I’ve been busy getting used to my new job, and so far, I’m really enjoying it! Just a quick one today, as I haven’t had much chance to prepare, so this one is super quick and easy. It was the first thing I made once I’d got my sewing machine because it was so easy!

All you need is a scrap of fabric big enough to fit the template and a small square of velcro! I use this template (click here), which I got from Leafy Treetop Spot!

Cut out your 2 pieces, the original tutorial called for interfacing, but I’ve found you really don’t need it! However, if you’d prefer a thicker more structured organiser, go for it and incorporate the interface according to your manufacturer’s instructions, an iron on would be perfect for this!

Right sides facing, sew around the edge of the shape, leaving an inch gap along one straight side to allow for turning. You don’t even need to use pins, this is so easy, but I have, just to make sure it doesn’t move.

Turn the pieces right sides out and press the gap down with your fingers. Sew the gap shut and continue around the edge again with a top stitch. Next, we’re going to attach the velcro, you’ll want one piece on one side of the curve, and one piece on the opposite side, opposite end (see the image below).

Sew around the edge of each piece of velcro and a cross through the centre if you need it to be more secure.

And that’s it! I told you it was simple, I’d say from cutting to finishing this takes me about 5-10 minutes. I’ve made a few for friends and family just as practice and this one is going to my mum to keep her phone charger cord tidy in her bag! I love how easy this is, and you can even customise it by drawing a bigger version for different cables, and even add a small label to tell you what the cord is for! Perfect to organise that pesky drawer full of unknown cables!

Next week I’ll do a bit more preparation and bring you a more exciting make, but for now, stay safe, stay alert and keep sending us your lockdown makes!
